Art Work
Blü believes in maintaining strong ties with the creative community in Portland. To this end, we are proud to provide an environment for local artists to showcase and shop their creations. A bi-monthly rotation of different area artists adds an inviting, dynamic presence to the atmosphere at the salon, as well as providing inspiration for stylists and salon guests alike. All proceeds from the sale of featured art go directly to the artist.
American Cancer Society
Blü is proud to have recently begun a partnership with the folks at the American Cancer Society's Quality of Life Group. All of our stylists have set aside time each week to wash, style and/or cut wigs donated to the American Cancer Society Gift Closet. These wigs are then made available free of charge at local area Gift Closet locations.
In September we completed our first round of wigs and were delighted that the folks at the Cancer Society and St. Vincent's Hospital were ecstatic about how they turned out. Our staff is proud to participate in this way and to have the ability to bring some joy into the lives of these brave individuals.
If you have wigs to donate or know someone who does, please drop send us an email and we'd be pleased to facilitate a donation to the ACS.
Past Collaborations
Dress for Success
Giving back to the community that keeps our business thriving has become a tradition at Blü. Thanks to the input and desire shown by our stylists, several years ago we began a philanthropic relationship with the organization Dress for Success, a non-profit which helps local struggling women prepare to reenter the workforce. Learn more about their great work at their website.
Sofada fashion show benefit for Cares Northwest
In September, members of our team did all of the model's hair for the very successful Sofada Apparel fashion show to benefit the child abuse prevention group Cares Northwest. For more information see our Events and Education page and/or check out Cares Northwest's website.
Benefit for Paul Green's School of Rock
In August, the whole Blü crew sponsored a scholarship fundraiser for young musicians wanting to attend Paul Green's School of Rock here in Portland. We hope to build a tradition with the school and our benefit partners so that we can continue to provide such great opportunities for area youth. For more information see our Events and Education page and/or check out check out the School's website.
