I have been practicing hairdressing for over 20 years.

After completing 2 year long apprenticeships- one in mastering color and one in mastering precision cutting, I have continued my education throughout the years with Vidal Sassoon, Bumble and Bumble, Kevin Murphy, Toni & Guy, Wella, Goldwell, and many other leaders in our industry.

Ongoing education is extremely important to stay current and inspired as well as honing our craft. This industry is ever changing and I like to give my clients something fresh and of superior quality.

As a little girl, I knew that I wanted to be a hair stylist. I started cutting and coloring anyone who would let me (I found Barbies were always willing participants). After Cosmetology school, I received advanced training as an apprentice and continued to go to classes and shows for new techniques and inspiration. I like doing a variety of looks from very natural, to bold, high-fashion styles. Being a hair stylist gives me the unique opportunity to use both my technical skills and artistic eye to make my clients look and feel gorgeous!

I am a Portland lovin’ woman who is celebrating six years in the hair industry, and things just keep getting more exciting! Being a model in hair shows and attacking my siblings’ hair were the precursors in my youth to this ever-changing world of "fashionita de coiffe"! Engaging in the complex art of hair has inspired me and my commitment to master it through education and creativity. With my background in publicity, marketing and business development, I feel this craft hones in on my social inclinations and my innate ability to sense my clients’ needs. Branching out to do fashion shows and photo-shoots has provided an added zest to this career path I’m already so passionate about! I love meeting new people, catching up with old friends in my chair, and making their days a little more beautiful while they’re looking in the mirror.

I am currently the education director for Blu and a Bumble & Bumble network educator.

Charlotte first discovered her passion for the beauty industry at a young age. After practicing on her Barbies for years, she graduated to cutting, coloring and creating great looks for herself and her friends throughout her high school years. Encouraged by her family hairstylist and the rave reviews she received about her and her friend’s hair, she knew that she had found her true calling.

Charlotte graduated with distinction from Phagan’s Hair Academy and continues to immerse herself in educational opportunities – from her amazing experience at Vidal Sassoon Academy in the fall of ’08 to the rigors of the Blü apprenticeship program.

She sums up her approach to hair by saying “I pride myself in the effort I put into taking care of clients, from greeting to rinsing and just generally making people feel welcome. I like to really listen to what clients say and to go through the process of interpreting what their input is in order to create the look that fits them best.”

On a personal note, Charlotte describes herself as “the goofiest nerd ever” and spends her free time watching copious amounts of Star Trek, shooting and processing her own pictures, cooking and hanging out with the love of her life – Lucy, a 1 year old Shi Tzu/Bichon Frise mix.

As a young teen I spent my afternoons sweeping hair at my sister’s small one chair salon. I was intrigued by the constant action of being a hairstylist and the number of different personalities that would sit in her chair. I knew then that I wanted to be a hairstylist. After graduating from Manning School of Cosmetology, I knew I needed to further my training. I successfully completed an apprenticeship at a high-end Bumble exclusive salon in Vancouver. It gave me the skills and confidence to be able to fulfill the needs of any client to sit in my chair.

In my four years in this industry I have strengthened my skillls and artistic eye to create any shape I can envision. Whether it is a precision bob or a highly textured razor cut, I strive to find the perfect shape for each client. I am able to create looks that work with individual's hair texture, density and most important, I am able to find something that fits with the client's unique lifestyle.

Sasha has been doing hair professionally since 2003, but her passion and foundation for hair stretch back to her earliest years. After practicing on Barbie and My Little Pony, she moved on to doing her and her friends’ hair. She happily reports that she got all of the “real experimental” haircuts out of the way before high school ended…

Sasha attended beauty school in Lincoln, Nebraska, moving to Portland right after graduating. She loves her new home here in Portland and feels continually inspired by all of the unique styles and personalities around town. The diversity at Blü and the salon’s focus on continuing education and full service made for a perfect match.

Regarding her approach, Sasha says “I love doing all kinds of hair. Curly and straight, thick and thin, long and short. When you’re in my chair you have my full attention as we work together to give you the look you want… And have some fun in the process!”

Fun is the way I like to create hair! After graduating from cosmetology school in 2007 I've learned a few things about fashion and style: texture, dimension, and modern are the way I like to do things! I started my career as an apprentice in Orange County, CA and worked my way up to Stylist, all while learning from great and inspirational hairstylists and attending classes to further my education and knowledge. Let's be honest, fashion is a constant and you can never stop learning. Moving up to Portland was quite the change for me and I believe I've been able to hone my skills because of the fantastic co-workers I have and my wonderful clients that come in to help me in this ever changing business.
